7th Grade CCD Resources

I am a 7th Grade CCD Teacher at our Parish. During this year, we learn more about Jesus as a Person, as as a part of the Trinity, and as the bridegroom of the Holy, Catholic Church.

This page gives internet resources, and posts giving ideas on classroom lessons. Don't let them fool you, 7th graders would rather do coloring and craft projects!

Jesus the Superhero:
My students loved this lesson about how Jesus is a Superhero! It comes with the lesson plan, and is free to download and to print. I recommend printing in color, except for the Superhero logo, they loved coloring it, and hanging it above all the pictures on the classroom wall. Superhero Jesus

Timeline of Jesus Life:
I read through the book of Luke with my students throughout the school year, broken down into the times; such as we skip the Nativity till Advent; and we save the Passion till Ash Wednesday-Easter. To go along with this, we use the Life of Jesus Timeline and add the pictures as we go along. This is also free to download and print. I also recommend the color. We put this up on the classroom wall.

Learning about the Liturgical Year:
I spend one class period going over the Church, a lot of this is review by 7th grade, but it also makes more sense by this age. Here is a great craft for the seasons of the Church Year. Liturgical Wheel 2012
This helps give them something to take home, plus we can talk about the colors and what they represent, and why we start with advent, and what Oridinary Time actually means!
